Neal Asbury began his nationally syndicated “Neal Asbury’s Made in America” show on Radio America by lauding Mitt Romney for a transformational debate victory that showed his masterful grasp of the issues.
“Romney demystified Obama, and showed America that Obama is not the intellectual giant he is made out to be. People got to see who Romney is, and Obama isn’t,” said Neal Asbury.
Joining the show as a first time guest was Republican Congressman, Pete Sessions, representing Texas’s 32nd district.
“Romney’s performance reflects a victory for free enterprise. Romney took on the Democrats and showed people why his business background was an asset. He schooled Obama on free enterprise and we saw that Obama had no answer when Romney asked Obama to show any evidence that he sent jobs overseas,” said Sessions, who added, “When Obama doesn’t have a teleprompter, he’s in trouble”
Sessions took Obama to task for declaring that he cared about all the things he has endorsed, but spent $90 billion on green energy, when the money could have been better spent.
“Obama leads by division, ignoring the American Dream. He has oversold and under-delivered when he boasted that he could work with both sides of the aisle. He hasn’t; and in the process has killed American entrepreneurship by making U.S. products more expensive on the world market.”
Neal Asbury agreed, and added that during the debate Romney gave a shout out to coal, which is critical to the nation’s energy program. He said Romney made big points when he told Obama that the $90 billion he spent on green energy could have been used to hire 2 million more teachers.
“American prosperity will increase when Romney is elected president,” said Asbury.
In introducing the next guest, Sandy Steinman, author of “The Small Business Turnaround Guide,” Neal declared that he is proud that each week, Made in America promotes small business, attacking excessive regulations, taxes and a failed immigration policy.
Steinman noted that 600,000 small businesses fail each year and that it costs 3 million jobs. He proposed that under Obama, things have gotten worse.
“In the debate, Romney described the America we grew up in. This was the America before Obamacare was shoved down our throats. Obama talked about that his program would create more choices for small business. Instead, two months after Obamacare was passed, I had a client that had his health insurance canceled because his insurance carrier chose to close down rather than comply with Obamacare. Now my client pays 25 percent more in health insurance,” said Steinman, who added that this kind of situation is causing small businesses to question whether they want to stay in the game.” Steinman invited listeners to order his book at businessturnaroundguide.com.
The discussion turned to the Obama administration’s refusal to follow the guidelines set forth in the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN), which was designed to make sure that workers were given at least 60 days notice if they would be losing their jobs.
Lockheed Martin, which had planned to issue employee layoff notices to 123,000 workers on Nov. 2—just four days before the presidential election – instead is waiting until after the election. But this won’t give employees the 60 days notice they are entitled to when they are let go on January 1, 2013.
“Obama is breaking the law, and what’s worse, taxpayers will have pay for the fines and attorney fees for not adhering to the WARN Act. The fix is in,” said co-host Dr. Rich Roffman.
Congressman Joe Wilson, who serves South Carolina’s Second District, and is a returning guest, characterized the Obama Lockheed Martin action as “outrageous.”
Wilson proudly promoted his own state, noting that South Carolina is now the nation’s leader in tire manufacturing and exporting, and also the number one state in exporting vehicles, spurred by a recent BMW plant that was built.
“We’re a right to work state, and despite efforts by the NLRB to hire union employees, we have withstood that pressure. And now we have a Boeing plant building the most technologically advanced airplane in the world. We have low taxes and a great training program so our citizens possess the training they need to take on the new jobs,” said Wilson.
Once again, Asbury and co-host Dr. Rich Roffman introduced their weekly “Cronyism Report,” an ongoing look at how federal funding payouts are wasting taxpayer dollars.
“One of the most fascinating things about the debate, was when Obama was confronted with the fact that most of his failed green initiatives were with big supporters, Obama did nothing to refute it. He knew it was true,” said Neal Asbury.
Dr. Roffman agreed, noting that his favorite moment was when Romney accused Obama of misspending $90 billion on failed green energy projects, Romney declared ”It’s one thing to pick winners and losers with handouts, you’re just picking losers.” Dr. Roffman was delighted to see that Romney was the first person who publicly stood up to Obama.
“The failed Chevy Volt continues to stay in the news. The latest is that while the Department of Defense can’t find money to add security to our nation’s embassies, they did give embassies permission to purchase Chevy Volts. Norway gets the first car. Embassies can get a car, but not a marine,” concluded Dr. Roffman.
Each week Neal Asbury’s Made in America provides Neal’s insights into the week’s top news stories and their impact on the worlds of entrepreneurship, small business ownership and the overall economy. Neal’s analysis, together with co-host Dr. Richard Roffman, a veteran 30-year publisher with extensive domestic and international experience, takes a non-biased approach based on real life experience in business as an American manufacturer and exporter.
