Made in America Panel Predicts that Federal Government is Headed for Bankruptcy if Government Handouts Remain Unchecked

Host Neal Asbury opened his nationally syndicated “Neal Asbury’s Made in America” show on Radio America (now on 48 stations) by linking the unrest in Ferguson, Missouri to the larger issue of soaring black unemployment not only in Ferguson but around the country. One of the issues impacting black employment is that illegal immigrants are being pushed to the front of the employment line at the expense of Americans. This has contributed to a sense of desperation and poverty within the black community.

Returning to Made in America as a guest was Stephen Moore, Chief Economist at The Heritage Foundation, who believes that Americans are getting a skewed look at the American job market.

“There are some 1,000,000 good paying jobs available in the U.S.; 500,000 of which are in manufacturing.  The trouble is that Americans don’t have the skill sets to get these jobs, and in many cases, refuse to get the training they need to land these jobs, even if the employer will pay for the training,” noted Moore.

He estimated there are hundreds of thousands of jobs in the energy field alone, but young people graduating from colleges are taking liberals arts courses, which can’t be leveraged to today’s technical job openings.  Exacerbating the job search is that as many as half of the prospects can’t pass the drug test – an irony as many states are making marijuana smoking legal.

“We need to include tech and machine operating courses in school, bringing back courses in shop, to train workers in the ‘dirty hands’ industry where the jobs are.  But one big impediment is that many Americans are earning $30,000 a year in government benefits; a big disincentive for seeking work,” proposed Moore.

Co-host, Dr. Rich Roffman, suggested that people need to look past the stigma of industrial work, and ask themselves if working in these often unglamorous jobs is a bigger stigma than living off the government and living in their mother’s basement.

First-time guest on Made in America was Paul Driessen, Senior Policy Analyst at The Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow and Congress of Racial Equality, and also author of “Eco-Imperialism: Green Power Black Death.”

“This nation is faced with a runaway executive branch that makes policy decisions without any input from congress or the courts. This has allowed proponents of junk science to introduce policy decisions on energy that ignore their human costs and its impact on our health and welfare. The EPA simply chooses to ignore the facts regarding global warming and coal,” suggested Driessen.

Host Neal Asbury agreed, noting that these policies are robbing people of their livelihoods based on shoddy science. They want their lives back, when coal fueled America.  But this can’t happen as long as Obama is in office.

John Manzella, world recognized author, speaker and Editor In Chief of The Manzella Report and a long-time panel member of Made in America, returned to the show.

“I’m here to tell you that American manufacturing is alive and well, and I’m disappointed that so many Americans don’t recognize this. The job numbers don’t really convey the ongoing growth of American manufacturing or the fact that millions of jobs are available for people with the right training. And it ignores the many American companies that are back-shoring; bringing their manufacturing plants back to the U.S. to tap into the skilled, productive American work force,” noted Manzella, who added that rising labor cost in China make it more profitable to work in America.

Dr. Roffman added that many people discount the number of service jobs being created here, (R&D, marketing, design, etc.) that are actually related directly to American companies outsourcing these jobs here in the U.S.

Terence P. Jeffrey, editor-in-chief of the conservative U.S. Internet news service CNSNews.com was the final guest on Made in America, who revealed the startling fact that in the 4th quarter of 2012, 35 percent of Americans were living in a household where at least one person was receiving government assistance.

“That translates into some 153 million Americans – more people than are living in Russia. Worse is that 103 million Americans go to work every day, while 109 million Americans are not working at all.  But you have to factor in the fact that more than 16% of workers are actually government employees.  We are heading toward national bankruptcy,” warned Jeffrey, adding that since Obama took office, the U.S. has added $7 trillion in debt and that in fiscal 2013, $2 trillion of that debt was to fund government benefits.

Neal and Dr. Roffman moved on to their weekly segment identifying rampant cronyism.

“Two week’s ago I reported that a city in New Jersey was going to switch the name of their performing arts center from John F. Kennedy to Barack Obama.  Well, they have had a change of heart, which I suspect had to do with Obama’s role in the sorry state of the country,” said Dr. Roffman.

This led him to research other naming honors that have been bestowed on Barack Obama, ranging from a high school in Chicago to a building in Tanzania, to a parasitic hair worm in Kenya.

Finally, in keeping with his focus on the cronyism running rampant through Democrats, Dr. Roffman revealed that minority leader Nancy Pelosi has been able to exempt her city, hence her fruit orchards, from the strict water conservation measures being enacted in California as a result of terrible drought. Nearby farms are watching their fruit whither in the sun as the Pelosi’s orchards ripen and bloom.

“That my friends, is cronyism at its devious best,” concluded Dr. Roffman

Each week Neal Asbury’ Made in America provides Neal’s insights into the week’s top news stories and their impact on the worlds of entrepreneurship, small business ownership and the overall economy. Neal’s analysis, together with co-host Dr. Richard Roffman, a veteran 30-year publisher with extensive domestic and international experience, takes a non-biased approach based on real life experience in business as an American manufacturer and exporter. Made in America airs nationally each Saturday from 7-8:00 PM on Radio America.  Link to Made in America at http://www.nealasburysmadeinamerica.com.
